Job Overview

This role is a unique opportunity for an analyst who is passionate about both finance and technology. Ideal Candidate & Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of corporate finance, FP&A, or investment banking analyst experience, including modeling complex capital structures.
• You thrive in environments where you must build models and processes from scratch, pairing institutional-grade rigor with the adaptability required in a hyper-growth climate-tech company.
• You have expert-level Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills.
• You have a strong interest in applying AI and machine learning concepts to solve real-world business problems and possess demonstrated proficiency in a programming language, preferably Python for data analysis and automation.
• You have hands-on experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau to create insightful reports and dashboards.
• You communicate seamlessly across financial and technical domains and can bring clarity to complexity.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Accumatica) or dedicated FP&A software (e.g., Anaplan) is a plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Modeling

• Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning including building comprehensive pro forma models for acquisitions, business unit pivots and/or new initiatives that may require various and complex funding sources.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing key insights on business performance and variance analysis to leadership.

Technology Adoption

• Act as a key partner in identifying opportunities for process automation within accounting and finance; design and implement solutions using coding (e.g., Python) and other tools.
• Explore, recommend, and implement AI-driven tools and techniques to improve forecasting accuracy and streamline financial operations.
• Manage and analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights for data-driven decision-making.

Leadership, Cross Functional & Team Building

• Collaborate with various departments to gather information and provide analytical support for strategic initiatives.
• Lead or assist in the preparation of presentations for the leadership team and the Board of Directors.
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

Job Overview

Darcy Solutions is launching Darcy Solutions Asset Management (DSAM) to finance, own, and operate groundwater-based geothermal systems for large campuses. With GAAP revenue projected to grow 4× in 2025 and recognition as a Cleantech Group Cleantech 50 to Watch, Darcy is entering a major scale-up phase requiring advanced structured finance capabilities.

The Managing Director will co-architect DSAM and build the financial platform enabling the business to reach $1B AUM within seven years. This hands-on leadership role blends financial innovation, investor engagement, and disciplined execution across Engineering, Geology, Regulatory, Sales, and Development teams.

This is a rare opportunity to build a new thermal-infrastructure investment platform powered by Darcy’s IP—delivering up to 200× the thermal capacity per well versus conventional geothermal—and to meaningfully decarbonize the built environment. The role shapes DSAM’s capital structures, underwriting standards, and investor strategy, and represents DSAM to leadership, the Board, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Structuring & Execution

• Lead modeling and analysis for project- and portfolio-level financings, including debt, equity, and tax equity.
• Build and maintain dynamic underwriting and decision-support models.
• Shape financing products including SPVs, TPOs, thermal-as-a-service agreements, tax-equity partnerships, and campus-scale ownership structures.
• Standardize term sheets, templates, closing docs, and covenant frameworks with legal and accounting.
• Manage due diligence and data rooms for lenders and investors.

Investor & Partner Engagement

• Engage directly with project finance banks, infrastructure funds, tax equity investors, and institutional capital.
• Support investor presentations, deal negotiations, and capital-raising strategy.
• Represent DSAM professionally across financial institutions and government financing programs.

Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management

• Analyze project returns, cash flows, sensitivities, and risk profiles to guide investment decisions.
• Participate in portfolio-level financial tracking, compliance, risk monitoring, and investor reporting.
• Contribute to optimizing DSAM’s cost of capital and risk-adjusted return profile.

Leadership & Team Building

• Serve as a foundational leader within DSAM, helping set the operating cadence, culture, and expectations for a new infrastructure investment platform.
• Build and manage a team of analysts, associates, and specialists.
• Work cross-functionally across technical and development teams.

First 12-18 Months Priorities

As DSAM is established and scaled, success in this role over the first year will include:

• Co-design and implement DSAM’s initial capital stack strategy, including debt, equity, and tax equity pathways.
• Build upon existing and establish new financial templates and due diligence frameworks.
• Establish and help advance early institutional relationships with lenders, tax equity providers, and infrastructure capital partners.
• Help Prepare DSAM for Investment Committee-level governance, reporting, and decision workflows

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in structured finance, project finance, or infrastructure investment—ideally in renewable energy or distributed thermal energy systems.
• Track record with leading infrastructure investors (e.g., Brookfield, GIP, Stonepeak, Macquarie, Generate).
• Demonstrated ability to structure and close complex project finance, tax-equity, and infrastructure investment transactions.
• Deep familiarity with financing energy assets, analyzing technical inputs, and translating engineering realities into financial models and investment strategies.
• Exceptional communication, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with federal incentives, tax-credit structures, energy-policy frameworks, and state or campus-level regulatory considerations relevant to thermal-energy infrastructure.

Darcy is pioneering a new groundwater-based geothermal approach to sustainable heating and cooling for commercial and multi-family residential buildings. We're working closely with industry partners to pioneer integrated ground loop-HVAC designs that help customers meet aggressive carbon emissions goals and energy efficiency requirements while lowering costs. Our approach blends elements of water well and geothermal technology, resulting in a novel way to put groundwater to work.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader in hydrogeologic design and well construction, while also contributing directly to field operations and system implementation
• Drive R&D initiatives to advance Darcy's groundwater-based geothermal technology. identifying opportunities for new methods, tools, and applications
• Oversee and guide well design, construction schematics, and testing protocols, ensuring technical rigor and operational excellence
• Conduct advanced geologic and hydrogeologic analyses of potential project sites to inform innovative system designs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate R&D insights into scalable, field-tested solutions
• Lead construction oversight of Darcy wells, managing subcontractors and ensuring adherence to safety, code, and design standards

Requirements:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or related field (or relevant experience)
• 8+ years of progressive experience in hydrogeology with a focus on high-capacity well design, installation, and testing
• Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing geoscience teams
• Demonstrated success leading projects that integrate R&D, field operations, and innovative technical solutions.
• Strong ability to interpret, synthesize, and communicate complex geologic and hydrogeologic data (maps, logs, well records, cross-sections, modeling outputs)
• Expertise in water well design including materials selection, screen/filter-pack design, pitless unit/surface completion considerations, and installation limitations
• Experience managing field operations and construction oversight in a variety of geologic settings
• Knowledge of drilling and well construction methods, practices, and safety standards
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance leadership, R&D, and hands-on project work
• Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on technical leadership and stakeholder collaboration
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record

Preferred:

• Knowledge of well code requirements in at least one jurisdiction and ability to learn requirements in others
• Experience designing or installing well pumps, VFDs, and controls
• Experience programmatically working with modeling data for input/output generation and data analytics/visualization, such as Python, Matlab, COMSOL or MODFLOW
• Registered as a Professional Geologist in a state or states where Darcy operates (or can become registered within 6 months of hire) preferred but not required

This role is ideal for professionals experienced in building modern web applications and backend services, with a focus on clean design, usability, and structured knowledge management. This project-based role offers the opportunity to build Darcy's internal knowledge platform - a system that will replace spreadsheets with a robust, user-friendly web application. You will be building tools used directly by Darcy's engineers, geologists, and operations & construction staff, while working closely with the Director of Data Solutions to ensure the platform is effectively linked to a graph database as the central source of structured knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Front-End Development: Build intuitive forms, dashboards, and workflows that allow engineers and project teams to capture, view, and update project and well information in an intuitive way.
• Backend Development: Develop APIs and services (Python - FastAPI/Django/Flask) that handle validation, business logic, engineering calculations, and connections to a graph database.
• System Modernization: Translate existing spreadsheet- and SharePoint-based workflows into a centralized web application with improved reliability and governance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Darcy's engineering, geology, operations, and project management teams to understand their domains and workflows, and partner with the Director of Data Solutions to ensure the app and backend services are properly linked to a graph database.
• Quality & Maintainability: Write clean, testable, and well-documented code.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience building web applications, with expertise in Python-based backend services and modern JavaScript frameworks on the front end.
• Ability to design and implement user-friendly forms and dashboards for technical and non-technical users.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON; experience designing or consuming APIs.
• Experience with authentication/authorization systems (SSO, role-based access).
